Finished jacket!

I finished the jacket a couple days ago, but wasnt happy with the result. Today i’ve redone some of the seams, and it turned out a bit better. I’m confident that after i wash it, it’ll hang as a total disaster on my shoulders tho!

Anyhow, i’m participating in a Tunisian Crochet Along. (An Along in this case is when a bunch of hobbyfreaks decide to make the same item, simultaneously, finish at the same time and chat/help eachother out during the process) We get mailed the patterns for 4 squares at the beginning of each month, 52 squares total. The goal is to have a cozy afghan finished during feb/march or thereabouts in 2007. I was pretty unhappy with one of the old squares (No. 5), so i unraveled it and made a different square from it.

Karisma Superwash, 4.5mm Hook.
Today I’ve played some multiplayer cooperative Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (gawd) with my d00d. Havent quite decided what i think of it yet, as i’ve barely had a look at the singleplayer mode and the multiplayer is still just chaos and confusion :D Ah btw, I downloaded Opera 9.0 beta version. Had some fun with the new features like widgets and the built-in torrent-client. Although I wont be using any of them it was kinda fun to see how it works.

GuildWars:Factions & Mari Boine

GuildWars:Factions
Wahey the Big Day is here! At least for all the GuildWarsfans out there. GW:Factions is released today, with a load of new explorable areas, professions and a shitload of new skills. I’ve been eagerly waiting for this day since september or so. I really thought I’d be one of those geeks hammering at the gameshops door this day. Then at some point I kinda changed my mind about getting the game and stopped waiting. Now i’m standing like a goof outside the playground watching the other kids play :P I still haven’t decided wether i’m getting it, depends on how the withdrawal symptoms act out :D

Mari Boine - Idjagieðas

You can listen to some inadequate samples here

I got my hands on this album last night. I had pretty high expectations to it, since my bro said it was awesome, and it’s gotten some real good reviews in the Norwegian papers. At first I got really impressed by the first half or two thirds of the album. But then at the end i found it a bit dull and if you’ve heard Mari before, you’ll recognize some of the tunes. This gave me the feeling of some songs being “cheap” reproductions. After listening to the album a few more times today, i’ll withdraw that. This is an album that needs some time, and it certainly isnt something that you’ll want to listen to as background noise while doing dishes. It deserves your full attention, at least the first few playbacks. Some of the tracks totally swept me off my feet, like the titlesong “Idjagieðas”, where she actually sings in a fantasylanguage. I find her being more intense than ever in this album. Descriptions like “emotional roller coaster” and “calm trancelike um something” come to my mind, simultaneously! Bah i give up explaining this album, you just gotta feel it for yourself.

Crazy Coffee!

Coffee never ceases to surprise me. Today my d00d and a buddy of his were discussing green coffebeans roasted in a popcorn machine (dont ask), and the buddy comes up with this link to Animal Coffee. I mean WTF!? Long story short, this catlike crature called ‘Luwak’ eats the beans from the tree, poops them out undigested and then ppl go pick em and sell em! It’s crazy! Check out the exclusive package, it actually contains an unprocessed poop! Or how about some pooped coffee bean necklaces? I’d get one just for shits and giggles :D

Jacket in progress

Great, the blog-layout is nearly done, just a few finishing touches to go. My friend Tone really nailed the colours perfectly as i wanted them. Pretty impressive when she only got hints like “Umm, something coffee&chocolate with toffee&cream on top yumyum” - and i’m loving every piece of it!

I’ve killed a CareBear! Really! Murdered!
I started to crochet the bright green ‘Good Luck Bear’, but when I realized it would take like 4-5+ skeins of yarn to finish it, i changed my mind about it. It was becoming a much bigger bear than i wanted, and the total cost was skyrocketing to *miip* way too much for me :P Anyway, with all that unraveled (is it really called that?) yarn, i started on this jacket instead. I’m actually almost done with it. Silly me always thinking the yarnshops add a few skeins in their patterns to make us buy more than we need, so i bought one less than adviced to. Yeah you guesset it, it was one too little haha. It’s only missing a few rounds around the neck, i’ve even finished assembling it! :D I checked the yarnpusher for one more skein last week, but they were all out. They’ll get more of this colour this week, so i should get there one of these days. Man is this green gonna look lovely in this brown setting ^^

Yay look, my cam has a built-in ghost! I name thee Casperella!

Knitting & blogging newbie

So. The blog is new, i’m new to the blog, a friend of mine is about to do a total makeover of my blog and i’m just sitting here with a huge grin. I think i’ll start with posting pics of some old projects, just to slow down and get a feel of “bloggage”. I’m a crocheter by heart and i never thought i was going to learn how to knit anytime soon. Well, i was wrong! A couple months ago i decided to give it a try, and after searching for a good beginner pattern, i landed on Branching Out. I quote:

This scarf incorporates an easy, leaf-motif lace pattern for those willing to “branch out” from garter or stockinette stitch.

Emh.. Well now that i read it, i see it says “branch out from ***” and not “start out” as i thought. Anyways, after some starterdifficulties, a load of questions & answers in the various hobbyforums i finally finished the scarf. It’s about 170cm long, full of errors and all mine :D (huh my blog has smilies?) Here it is: Branching out
Knitted in Drops Alpaca, 5.5mm needles.

After i finished the scarf, i was itching for more projects and decided to try these fingerless mittens from Garnstudio. At first it was a total failure, i must’ve done something wrong because they were turning out about 5cm too wide for my arms. I edited the pattern a wee bit and here’s the result:
pulsvante.jpg
Knitted in Drops Alpaca, 3.0mm needles.

I wanted a hole for my thumb, and made one between the patternrepeats. This turned out just terrible, so i patched it with crocheting a lil ‘cape’ to my thumb, and that seems to work pretty well :P
I guess i dont need to tell you how proud i am of this accomplishment :D

I really need to find out where the smilies in this blog are, and if i can install some custom sets aswell. Then i gotta decide if i’m going to keep writing in English or if i need to chicken out and write in Norwegian. Or Sami, but then i’d have like 2 readers tops :D Anyways, my friend is still doing heavy surgery on the theme/skins, it’s turning out just awesome! I’m totally incomtitable with photoshop and coding, so this help is greatly appreciated. I bet she doesnt even have a clue about how thankful I am!

Ayeh, getting started

My first blogpost, ever, at least almost. This is kinda exciting and scary. At the moment i’m just trying to find my way about in this theme thingy that the d00d got for me. I’ve browsed some other themes but figured i might aswell start out with this 2-column one. I had a small wish for one with 3 columns, but after browsing some i figured this one’s more than enough for starters. My first task is to get this sidebar to show the lines/headers i want. Not sure if i have to dig into the css-part for that, most likely tho.
